Life imitates art. Coming from Amsterdam, Kemp has surely been influenced by art and an overall different way of life, elements that have given him a vision to portray in his work with his own voice, a voice that he is now using to subtly convey an important message amidst the world’s chaotic state.
This collection or wardrobe as he calls it, is not what it was originally intended to be, this is a follow up wardrobe made from recycled pieces from previous collections, pieces that embody an artsy feel and androgynous energy.
Craftsmanship and attention to detail are two of this collection’s distinctive characteristics, in Kemps own words “Clothes should be made with love and attention to detail, and not rushed out in a formulaic way to just fill in your blanks.”
This wardrobe consists of 28 stunning reconstructed pieces that display true craftsmanship in the art of fashion design; beautifully crafted patchwork, mix matched fabrics and gender fluid pieces that convey the message of preservation, sustainability and liberty.
Kemp opens up saying “I want to reinvent the notion of a couture house. When you’re smaller, you can move with the times and react. It would be a blessing for the whole world if these mega fashion companies became smaller companies.” A believer of a worthy cause kemp adds “The unrest is so big—people really want change. We’re taking this moment to change.” The conversation has started and the debate is strong, but Kemp believes in a true Utopia and he his doing his part to make it a reality without compromising the integrity of his creativity. “We have to move forward, but we can only do it together.”
