After the passing of creative director and fashion darling Karl Lagerfeld, the Chanel maison has been adopting a more minimalistic and youthful approach under the eye of Virginie Viard, the house’s new creative director, who seems to be embracing the concept of “Less is More” to perfection.
This collection is set on that minimalist, youthful path, clearly with the intent to appeal to a younger audience. The pieces are quite minimal but as we know, less often means more work, and that certainly is the case for this collection. Beautifully embroidered and feathered ensembles, reminiscent of the classic Chanel era with a modern more youthful twist, magnificent gowns that scream glamour and elegance; in some of the pieces we can see a slight influence from the 60’s as well as some minor grungy, gothic and victorian elements.
