The mindful weirdness you need watch and most importantly listen to right about now.
A new Netflix series that became available on April 20th, 2020, based on the apparently well known Podcast: Family Hour by Duncan Trussell, a stand up comedian well known for this very same podcast. I’ve never heard of him or of his podcast before but it appears to be quite well known and popular in the podcast-verse and which I will be most definitely listening to from now on, for after watching the series, I now consider my self a fan. but back to the series.
To describe it matter of factly; the series is quite trippy with engaging visuals created by non other than Pendleton Ward, creator of Adventure Time; the very popular animated series, which I confess, I also haven’t seen to this day.
Consisting of 8 episodes of roughly less than 20 minutes each; every episode takes you through the audio of a very deep conversation about a specific topic of Trussell’s existing psychological podcast, accompanied by freaky visuals that seem rather not connected to it in a traditional way but serves the purpose of connecting you to the audio and engaging you to the whole ordeal. Throughout the episodes, we follow the main character a multiverse, simulation traveling dude that visits several planets interviewing random characters that serve as the guests for his “spacecast”.
On the very first episode we fall with him to a zombie apocalypse scenario right here on earth and he stumbles across non other then the president, with whom he has a very mindful conversation about drugs and life in general and their perspectives on them. It was at that very moment that I became fully engaged to it; like a magnet, I was deeply attached to their conversation, which points of view I rather share and feel very appreciative of.
The following episodes continue to take you through this very deep conversations of very profound topics about life, illness, death, acceptance, mindfulness, the ability to listen, amongst other topics that may interest you as well.
The whole thing is truly genius to say the least, the millennial approach to this very deep and controversial topics seem to me like the perfect way to engage both a younger and more mature audience alike on this matters and quite frankly, I truly think this is something everyone should take a look at and most definitely and importantly to listen to specially now that we are going through this though times. A definite must watch on Netflix right now, for sure.
