This menswear season has taken us by storm, from London Mens to Pitti Uomo, Milan and Paris; all major designers embellished the runways with the latest trends and fashion statements for the Fall/Winter season 2020.
.
This season in particular has been my favorite by far, I love the steps the fashion industry is taking to go places where it has never been before in menswear. Overall, my favorite part is that menswear has never been more inclusive, all designers have taken a feminine approach into their designs and embracing that femininity that brings out (ironically enough) the masculinity and sex appeal the makes a men that seductive, dapper figure.
This season we see menswear take a deep dive into minimalism, and this is truly my absolute favorite contingent about this term in fashion. For far too long we have wished that clothing from major designers to be truly ''net a porter'', and it has been building up for a while now, and with this fresh wind of new fashion collections, it finally feels real. With minimalism being the most absolute, dominant trend, we finally have a breath a fresh air. This time garments look fresh, stylish, youthful and overall trendy and fun.
Speaking of trends; we could identify a few of them, that made a very strong impact in the collections. First off, of course, we have:
- Minimalism; the use of simple, classic cuts and tailoing with a fresh intake of vintage style and sometimes western and retro vibes.
- The use of neutral colors and pastels.
- Overzised elements are here to stay; all the style and fun of the oversized elements still making a huge impact on the collections and as fun as it is Im also glad to see the come back of:
- Tailored fit, slim fit and also a new take on bell bottoms pants.
- Western vibes also make a impact on the collections, with the addition of boots and hats and of course: leather.
- Leather and boots in particular had a huge presence an most collections. Details or full on garments; leather was very much present and so were stunning thigh high boots and stylish rain boots and all kinds of boots, you name it.
- Puffers and cleavage are also here to stay, again, taking reference from a more feminine approach, designers have implemented deep cleavages or transparencies that highlights masculinity and sex appeal.
- Utility bags and accesories that are more than just a carry on also make a huge statement, given men more to play with.
BERLUTI
Berlutti as always was the colorful of the bunch, the breath of freshness and playfulness that gave us a bit of color to play with. Beautiful statement pieces to colorblock and mix or match with neutrals and other tones. Berlutti kept the oversized elements such as coats and blazzers, yet taking a step back into more tailored and slim fit pants, which I was very glad and exited to see, it just add up to that minimal effect and also gives the garments and outfits that comfort and stylish vibe we all look for. Velvet and leather made a statement in this collection as well, along with beautiful bags and some of my favorite shoes overall.
CRAIG GREEN
Puff, puff, puff. Green gave use a more ''climatic'' collection;: filled with puffer coats and hats , leather garments and neutral colors., boots and loose fit pants.
GIVENCHY
Givenchy gave us a more demure collection with sligh touches of western and 70s vibes. Beautiful, clean cut garments, with impecable tailoring and slightly loose bottoms for a more relaxed fit. A collection that stood mostly on the dark palette with brigth pops of color that made the pieces stand out. Just a few oversized elements and beautiful western boots to go along with every look.
JACQUEMUS
Jacquemus didn't give us much menswear to look at, but the few pieces we had to see were brilliant enough. A colection in true nudes, emerald greens and terracotta tones that mixed that feminine cuts to bring out mens sex appeal. Beautiful oversized elements and loose fit pants for the win along with a few statement bags and accesories.
LANVIN
Stylish ''comic con''. The so said to be comic book inspired collection, brought loose fit elements along with oversized coats and a mixture of colors and patterns like dotted sweaters and stripped suits as well as some big sneakers with looses laces. Another one of the colorful collections, not personally my favorite but a lot of individual rescueable pieces. A collection for a more avant garde, playfull fashionista.
LOUIS VUITTON
Monarchy extavaganza. LV gave us true elitist fashion. Beautifully tailored pieces in a beautiful array of blues, grays, terracottas and pastels. Also the addition of the long sleeve silk gloves, beautiful long sleeved gloves that really gave the collection a magnificent unique touch and playfull element for the daring fashionista, that proves that feminine elements in the right context and propper styling can too look manly and stylish. Stunning neck pieces and utility bags (of course) and accesories as well as probably my favorite shoes of all. Leather coats and pants and a few printed pieces with graphic details. Velvet coats and my favorite: long cut shirts, perfect for a cool spring day and to layer with during the fall/winter season.
RAF SIMONS
Simons gives us a beautifully tailored collection with the addition of a new version of bell bottoms pants and ''reinvented'' scarfs that were my absolute favorite and took me back to the old Hollywood era actressed style. Cape like coats in tailored fits and stylish white sneakes. A more demure and classic looking collection with a few details here in there with leather elements, velvet and fur. Classic cuts and tailoring with exquisite detailing and craftmanship.
VALENTINO
Valentino gives us a beautiful collection; of neutral colors and oversized pieces with beautiful graphic elements that go into the minimal approach with a one print stamp instead of an overall print. Beautiful classic shoes and leather goods to go along with the looks and tie it all together. Minimal, stylish and overall a masterpiece of minimalism and modern menswear.
VETEMENTS
Probably my favorite collection, Vetements gave us the most minimalistic collection of all, for the stylish youth that doesn't want to pay much attention yet be the center of attention and make the most spectacular statement. Classic jeans and T's combo with vintage looking like blazers, the kind you would get from your grandads closet and call it nigth. My favorite boots of all and a few other statement pieces like big puffer jackets and overalls, all a major fashion statement in the most FU kind of way.
