¨Enchanted Forest¨ is the latest collection from ODLR, a Fall, Ready to Wear (RTW) collection under the creative vision of the house´s new directors: Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. With this, their third runway takeover under their creative orchestration, they show their capacity to lead this household brand in the right direction for the modern and eclectic fashionista.
Simple and familiar silhouettes alongside classic cuts, yet very rich in texture and delicately embroidered fabrics and floral prints inspired by the Elizabethan era tapestries, this collection abides by the classic and flattering shapes the ODLR house has been know for, yet utilizing modern trends and design techniques that appeal to the modern and more youthful profile the duo is luring into the brand´scope.
Simplicity was a major factor on this collection, beautifully executed classic and simple silhouettes, enhanced with stunning floral embroidered details that bring the garments to life. Fabrics that embrace the femininity and youthfulness of the contemporary woman, from delicate tulle's to smooth silk's, this collection is literally a breath of fresh air in the otherwise clustered present fashion scenario.
Evening wear was the the biggest feature; as the collection evolved from stunning statement coats in bright colors and the classics black, white and nude, to beautiful ankle length embroidered dresses the have a retro flare to them. Later we see the pieces slowly becoming more spring like, as the floral prints and embroidered details start to appear, taking us trough this beautiful ¨enchanted forest¨ along side the them. One of my ultimate favorite elements on this collection is the addition of this beautiful tulle coats, truly amazing pieces that are both modern and ethereal, quite truly a must. The design duo also ¨flirt¨ a little with sports wear, as we see on some pieces that keep the collections aesthetic, yet give us a glimpse of what could be the future for the De La Renta house.
A remarkable collection, one that appeals to both past and new generations, a connection rather then a complete overhaul for existing clientele, praises for the young designer duo, as we look forward to their creative direction over this prestigious design house, a legacy that continues and i´ts future seams brighter then ever.
